So You Think You Can Dance Australia: Mikhaela and Gaz are shown the exit

How are you feeling?
Mikhaela: It's definitely not easy to be second, but I'm still proud of myself. I didn't know I'd make it to the top 100, so I'm happy. I'm happy.
Gaz: I'm a little down, I'm also tired. I didn't really expect to be going so early and I had a bigger goal in mind to make it to the top 10, then of course to win! So it's a bit disappointing, but I'm still happy with my time in the competition.

Gaz, are break dancers disadvantaged from the get go?
We have a massive disadvantage. Most lack all the other skills that more technical dancers have and in some cases the flexibility as well. So it's really hard to go into this as a break dancer. That's why I did a full time dance course beforehand.

What have we missed out on from you?
Mikhaela: You guys have missed out on a lot! I would've loved to do a jazz dance on the show because that's my thing. Obviously we don't control those situations. But I'll be out and about though - you'll see my face for a while!
Gaz: I wanted to show more of a softer side. I wanted to do a lyrical or meaningful piece that shows me expressing myself emotionally in dance.

Do you have any regrets?
Gaz: I wouldn't have changed a thing. Actually, I would've not put as much pressure on myself as I did. It brought me down sometimes.
Mikhaela: Same thing. You put so much pressure on yourself because you want to be better and better and better and in the end it drags you down. At the time you think you're doing great handling yourself, but you look back and realise you should've just relaxed.

What was the best part of this experience?
Mikhaela: Just forming friendships. They're friendships I'd keep for the rest of my life. Obviously I was close to my partner Robbie, but Renee and Carly especially. I love those girls! The three of us were very similar and we just got each other and were always laughing. It was just fun. We were inseparable.
Gaz: It'd be the friendships. I became really close to Don, Phillipe, Nick and Doug. We had a stupid handshake that went around for a while! We're all going to stay close, we're all considering moving to Sydney and getting a place together.

Is there anyone you don’t get on with?
Mikhaela: No there's not. We're all so close, it's like a family. It's so hard to leave. I cried when I got home - I didn't cry on TV.
Gaz: Well, I cried on TV and when I got home. It's so hard to dislike anyone and not get along.

What's been your career highlight?
Gaz: Definitely this show. I've had a few big things happen but nothing to this extent where millions of people are watching and voting to keep seeing you dance. I've been to world championships for break dancing and my crew, Skill@Will, has won a lot of national competitions since 2003.
Mikhaela: I haven't had my head out there, though recently I danced on Neighbours in the background!

What's next?
Mikhaela: Anything and everything!
Gaz: I'm planning to work as much as possible. My crew's got the World Break Dancing Championships coming up in October in New York. We're going to represent Australia.

Gaz, is it true you've worked as a topless waiter?
I did - last year I did two gigs with my friends! I wasn't a proper one. I did a hens' night and a friend's birthday party.

Mikhaela, are you feeling like less of a tom boy after the show?
Mikhaela: Definitely! Today I've put on a dress. It's not really a girly one - I've still got my converse on the bottom! Playing dress ups has really opened my eyes and it's sort of made me feel like there's other outfits I can choose now instead of jeans and a t-shirt.
Gaz: I always tell her to roll her shoulders back, she's got bad posture! She definitely looks nice, she should wear it a lot more often, I think.

Who do you want to win?
Mikhaela: I'm going to vote for Nick. He's insanely talented. He's also a fellow Melburnian. He's going to be ballistic and he just smashes everything.
Gaz: I'm going to say Nick or Grace. She's just got something different, not only personality-wise but her dancing is very unique. I've seen her dance before and I think she's got all the skills necessary to go all the way.
