After seven seasons, 191 episodes and more than 500 guests, the ever-quick-with-a-quip Andrew Denton, 48, is signing off on his intriguing interview program, Enough Rope. "It has been a privilege and an education to talk to such an extraordinary range of people," says the broadcaster, who has canvassed everyone from cabbies to Lisa Marie Presley, an interview that made world headlines. Winding up Enough Rope so he can concentrate on offscreen endeavours, including continuing duties as executive producer of The Gruen Transfer, Denton concludes, "If making this show has taught me anything it's that life should never be taken for granted. So it's time to move on and try some new challenges." To mark the series finale (which airs on Mon., Dec. 8, on ABC1), Denton tells WHO his thoughts on seven of the series' most memorable episodes.

ANGELINA JOLIE & CLINT EASTWOOD
NOVEMBER 2008
"A study in contrasts. He, at 78, very comfortable in his own skin, kindly, gentle, chuckling. She, at 33, initially watchful and very defensive. But slowly, as the two of them talked more, she began to relax and show a softer side beneath her understandable armour."

ANTONIO BANDERAS
JUNE 2004
"You've got to admire a man who is more charming in his second language [English] than most people are in their first. He was on an insane round-the-world tour for Shrek. His entire stay in Australia was eight hours. My first question, 'Do you even know where you are?' was answered by, 'Of course. Hello Israel!' A class act."

JANE TURNER & GINA RILEY
JULY 2003
"They were, in Jane's words, 'packing death' before the interview. Funny women whose achievement with Kath & Kim seemed more remarkable when you realise they wrote it around their kids' school lives."

JOANNE LEES
OCTOBER 2006
"Painfully uncomfortable in the spotlight. So much so, we stopped tape and I said, 'You're going to have to speak up, we can hardly hear you.' She had been so horribly maligned by sections of the media that her discomfort was understandable. Now she's said what she needed to say, I'll be amazed if we ever see her in the spotlight again."

GLENN & JANE McGRATH
MAY 2004
"What a night. Jane was such a star. So funny. Right at the end of the interview I asked her, 'When you make love to Glenn do you go, 'Ooh aah, Glenn McGrath?' Quick as a flash, she replied, 'We both do!' The way they looked at each other said everything about them: a true love story. It remains one of the most-watched episodes."

KYLE SANDILANDS
SEPTEMBER 2007
"I always loved the guests that divided the room and Kyle certainly fell into that category. He even divided the room in our office as some of the people on our team wondered why we were talking to him. The aim of Enough Rope was always to show as many different people as we could - not only the ones we're comfortable with - in an effort to cast light, not just heat. In the light, I'm not sure Kyle was all that likeable, but he was definitely interesting."
