How are you feeling?
A combination of disappointed and relieved. I loved the challenge and being taught how to dance and I loved the people. Just the whole experience has been phenomenal. But I'm relieved because next week is the samba and my hips weren't loving it!
Did you celebrate last night?I had a few friends there. They were as shocked as I was, but Kirk wasn't there. Dannial and I were each given a bottle of Moet and I decided to spray that all over the cast and crew. Then we went back to the hotel and partied on. I got very little sleep.
How do you think you danced last week?Really good. I was surprised we were eliminated last night, because we did dance our best. But we ended up in the bottom three for the third time, so it was three strikes and we were out.
Prior to the show you were nervous about having two left feet. On a scale of one to 10, how good a dancer are you now?I'd say an 8. Ballroom was my favourite, although the rumba was the hardest. That was really challenging.
Were you worried about what the public would think?Yeah, and that was one of the challenges - letting that go and stopping looking for external validation and reassurance that I was good. Probably by week three I let go; that's when I was just starting to get my groove on. It takes a few weeks to forget the cameras are there.
How competitive was it?There was actually a lot of camaraderie between the cast this year and I've made some lasting friendships out of this. I am competitive but this is unlike any competition I've done before. I didn't really have a competitive vibe towards my competition, I was more competing against myself.
Prior to the show you told WHO you would never get a spray tan. Has that changed?Nope, it has not. I pride myself on being the only cast member who didn't get a spray tan! It was really sunny in Sydney last week; it's all natural!
Who do you want to win?I'd like to see Matt White and his partner Ash-leigh win. He's a good friend and I think he's really enjoying it and is a great dancer. And Ash-leigh is actually Dannial's fiancé!
What was it like having them compete against each other? It was really cute! They really helped each other with their choreography, and Ash-leigh helped me out and Dannial helped Matt out.
Did you swap wedding planning tips with Dannial and Ash-leigh?Yeah, we chatted about it and swapped ideas, but I haven't made any plans for the wedding yet.
What's next for you?Back to work for me. I've got my surf event, the Beachley classic, coming up at the end of September, so I've got to start preparing for that. I'm actually competing in it against the current world champion and it will be my last event ever. Ever, ever, ever.
Why the last?Because it's my event! And I don't really want to compete any more.
Are you feeling fitter from DWTS?Yeah, definitely. I've lost all the weight I came into the show with. They had to bring the dresses in a couple of inches. I don't want to stop dancing, because I want to stay in good shape. I've got a new waistline and muscle mass in my upper body.
Will you take Kirk dancing?I'd like to. Exactly, drag Kirk along to do some waltzing together.
