The former Australian Idol graduate impressed thousands of fans - and earned a new one - as the support act for the bootylicious performer during Knowles's seven date I Am .... national Australian tour.
While most American superstars rarely deign to even meet the local act on tour, Knowles called Mauboy to her candles and white drape-filled dressing room as soon as the had finished her opening set of the first show at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on September 16.
"She put out her hand and said, "Thank you so much for joining the tour, I really wanted to meet you in person," Mauboy tells WHO. "All I could say was, "Oh wow! Thank you so, so much for the opportunity." In what the Darwin-raised star describes as a "surreal" experience, the pair chatted for 10 minutes - Knowles asking the awe-struck singer about her cultural heritage and hometown and praising her vocal talents.
And "B" meant business - having had her crew deliver a rave review for Mauboy's six-song set, a hooded Knowles checked out her performance at the Brisbane concert on September 19.
