Following the devastating loss of her mum, Jacqui Gibbs, to cancer in June, singer and actress Samantha Jade credits the support of her family and a busy work schedule for helping her heal.

"I think about it every day, but not when I'm working," Samantha Jade told WHO.

"But everyday is hard, every single day. The centre of your world is gone. It's good to get back into work but its hard without mum because I would ask her about everything."

Tonight, however, the brave and beautiful Jade took a break from recording new music to catch up with her INXS: Never Tear Us Apart co-star Luke Arnold and the X Factor judges at WHO’s Sexiest People Party in Sydney.

After making sure he'd be at this year's party - "I said you'd better come because you didn't come past year" - Jade told WHO catching up with Arnold was an evening highlight. "I love him."

The 27-year-old recently returned from a trip to New York, London and Paris with her dad Kevin Gibbs and two younger brothers and has said working on music has helped her get through the “tough” past few months.

Likening songwriting to being “almost like therapy,” the new Sony Mobile ambassador has been busy putting her songwriting skills to the test, penning the summery track “Always and Forever,” for the telco’s latest ad campaign.

On October 16, the Perth-born star shared an Instagram snap of her and her beloved mum, 51, holding hands with the caption, “The world is just not as bright without your shine. Missing my Mumma!”

Jade’s upcoming album, she has said, will be “a combination of a great time and the realness of what you go through.”
