Russell Crowe has slammed swirling rumours he has a new love - and has vowed to reunite his family following his reported split wife Danielle Spencer in October.

After the New York Post reported that Crowe had been spotted “cuddling” with Billy Joel’s ex-wife Katie Lee, the father of two tweeted on Dec. 13, “These latest reports are false & cruel.”

A source told the Post that Crowe, 48, and Lee, 31, “seemed to be in an intense, flirtatious conversation,” in front of a “romantic fireplace” in the Drawing Room of New York’s Greenwich Hotel at 3 AM on Dec. 9, and later at 2 PM the next day. Another source said they “looked really into each other”.

A day earlier, Lee, a TV food critic, was reportedly in the crowd at Joe’s Pub where Crowe sang with his Les Miserables co-star Hugh Jackman. The source said that Crowe, who is filming Winter’s Tale in New York, “had been seen around with Russell” on the set.

Denying the rumours, Crowe tweeted “As soon as I finish this job & can get home, my priority is to try to bring my family back together.”

Crowe and Spencer, who met playing lovers in the 1990 movie The Crossing, reportedly called it quits in October after nine years of marriage.
