The photograph shows the pomp and circumstance of royalty, and the military, but with a glimpse of humour and humanity behind the facade.
No wonder the Duke of Cambridge loves this image of himself and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. In fact, it's his favourite shot of the two of them.
William, 29, who couldn't stop breaking into a smirk as the Queen inspected graduates of the Sandhurst military academy in 2006, has posted the photo on the Historypin website on the occasion of Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee - and written a short, affectionate blurb about it.

"I felt especially proud to receive my commission as an officer in front of my grandmother, The Queen. She has been an incredible role model to me over the years," he writes.
"I remember The Queen's words as she addressed us from the tremendous parade ground at Sandhurst: 'You must be courageous yet selfless, leaders yet carers, confident yet considerate.' I agree with the comment that yes, there would have been no Australia if not for the Brits....this country would be quite different now if settled by the Dutch or French or Spanish....not necessarily worse, but different and more to the point, not the country that we now have....I am not a Royalist either, but it should be kept in our minds what our true heritage is....
Replyits just a nice story,,,and we should just enjoy that moment of happiness,,cause this world is going nuts,,,we have people chewing other peoples faces off,,we have women chopping the heads off their babies?? (but thats ok ,,they were depressed??),,and all the other humans doing what ever they want most of the time,,,and it all has got out of control,,,,what is happening????
ReplyDont some Aus people get sick of rubbishing people, seems like they have nothing else to do. I am no royalist, but lots of others are, its there choice. If you cant say some thing nice, shut up
ReplyLOL It makes me laugh! You people who say you hate the british and "lets boot them out" are a bit short sighted. If it wasnt for them you wouldnt even be in Australia lol. Im no royalist and I am glad I dont have to spend any tax dollars keeping them. Also, its not their fault they cant go to the front lines ..its just common sense! how much would a country have to pay in ransom money if one of them was taken as a hostage.... wow some people need to get their facts straight before passing stupid comments LOL. Oh and just so you know....I will not be checking replies so really...dont bother lololol
