Get up and move during your favourite TV shows. Skip, dance, go up and down some stairs, run on the spot—anything that gets your heart rate up so you feel somewhat breathless, says Geralyn Coopersmith, senior national manager at Equinox Fitness in the US. Do it for each two-minute break during a typical two-hour TV night and you'll burn an extra 1,130 kilojoules (270 cal) a day—which can translate to a 13 kg weight loss in a year.
