Eating diet foods and drinking diet soft drinks is a futile attempt to cheat your body, says dietitian Ashley Koff. “The body is physi-ologically smarter than your ability to override it. You may be seeing weight-loss results, but don’t expect any health benefits,” she adds. “My approach? The best thing you can do is to become a ‘qualitarian’. Choose the best quality foods available,” says Koff. “The diet versions have fewer kilojoules than the quality versions do, but they’ll also have fewer nutrients.”
