There’s no question that walking is a fitness fundamental, especially during the working week, when you’re short on time. But why don’t you experiment with some more invigorating and challenging outdoor sports on weekends? Activities such as biking, hiking and spiking (a volleyball, that is!) allow you to reap as much as six times more fat-blasting, body-shaping benefits than cruising around your neighbourhood on foot does. Plus, they’ll boost your strength and agility by forcing you to use muscles that you don’t normally ask much of. So top up your regular weekday exercise routine by throwing one or two of these fun weekend pursuits into the mix.
