Do you have any tips for how to host a fun baby shower? What food would you serve, what games would you play, how would you decorate for the party? What did you do for your baby shower?

One of my friends recently had a shower and the theme was 'owls'!  So cute.  There were owl invitations, owl table decorations etc.  A lot of owl gifts too!  Games were fun but not silly, such as creating as many baby names as you could by using the letters from the mum and dad to-be's names.  Also guess the number of jelly beans in the jar.  Also everyone had to guess the due date, gender and weight of the baby and write it down in a lovely keepsake book.

My sister and a couple of close friends organised my baby shower. It was a gorgeous morning tea in a friends backyard. There were vases of beautiful flowers everywhere and the theme was blue, purple and white as I knew I was having a boy. We didn't play any games but we had a couple of masseurs giving hand or sholder massages in the garden. We had a lovely time everyone drank champagne (except me!) and ate lots of lovely food.

All I can say is wait hand and foot on the mother to be - she should not have to lift a finger!!!

Obviously you can theme your shower according to sex, if the mum to be knows what she is having. But otherwise I its great to have a little bit of fun, this is one of the last chances the Mum to be will have with all her friends for a little while, so she should definitely make the most of it.

I've always done a Sunday afternoon tea - seems like a nice way to spend a day anyhow. Means just cake and finger food too which is easy.

I like games where you can divide people into teams so they mingle a little. The Boggle name game above is fun, as are celebrity baby quizzes, random facts about babies/birth etc

I don't like the ones where you have to race around like an idiot, busting balloons and stuff. Oh and the one where they melt chocolate or put baby food in nappies is just plain gross!!!

Just a couple of games are fun, then mingle and food, then presents and you're done. :) I love baby showers.
