According to baby name website nameberry.com, 'adjective' names will be popular in 2012, and in the coming months, we can expect to see a spate of babies with monikers like Noble, Brave, Strong, Loyal and Loving, perhaps a reflection of the personality traits parents wish for their protégés.
Also trending strongly are so-called ‘hero’ names, names which convey strength and masculinity. Actress Alicia Silverstone is an early trend-setter, naming her son ‘Bear Blu’, as are Erykah Badu with baby ‘Puma’ and even a ‘Bandit’ for My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way.
Other trends identified by nameberry.com include Western-themed names (think Colt, Wyatt and Maverick), names beginning with ‘A’, names beginning with ‘M’, vintage-inspired names ending in ‘ie’ (think Elsie and Maisie), and one-syllable ‘connective tissue’ middle names.
