It seems even celebrities aren’t immune to the sleep lottery you subscribe to once you give birth.
New mum Penelope Cruz has told US Vogue that while her nights aren’t too intense, “Some nights you sleep more, some nights less, but you don’t care.”
Cruz gave birth to son Leonardo in January (dad is her new husband, actor Javier Bardem) and reports feeling overwhelmed by the experience.
“From the first second, you feel so much love,” she says. “It is a revolutionary experience. That’s the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment - when you see that face, you are transformed forever.”
“Even if you have heard from all your friends and family, ‘This is what’s going to happen,’ until it happens to you, it’s hard to understand in your soul,” Cruz says.
Watch video:Always involved in humanitarian causes, Cruz says motherhood has strengthened her resolve to help those less fortunate.
“Even if you were aware of children and felt compassion, when you have your own, it multiplies,” she says. “It breaks your heart to know that there are so many children in the world suffering so much.”
Cruz spent her pregnancy filming filming On Stranger Tides with Johnny Depp.
“I was pregnant and a pirate,” Cruz says. “A beautiful experience.”

ReplyActually she already had a very successful acting career long before she went to Hollywood or met that fool tom cruise. She has been in some excellent spanish films and is often used by director Almodovar in his brilliant films. Some of you should have got an education before you went public with your ignorance. Woops too late.

1 ReplyThat woman's got a head on her that would stop a clock.
ReplyWhy are some of you being so mean-spirited and hideous? She's a lovely woman who deserves happiness with Javier and their son. I think it's great that she was filming as a pirate and pregnant at the same time. Go, Penelope!
