Last night's Dancing With The Stars show was full of shocks, from Kyly Clarke's dramatic exit due to a hamstring injury, to April Rose Pengily's tearful elimination.

However it was Mark Holden's performance dressed as a clown and dancing to the Madness song House of Fun - followed by a bizarre rant at the judges and inappropriate comments - that has everyone talking today.

The show's co-host Edwina Bartholomew spoke to New Idea to voice her opinion, saying she thought his behaviour was 'disrespectful'.

"He is a loose cannon which is great because it makes for interesting television but at the same time, I think it was a little bit disrespectful to the other dancers who do work so hard and do take it so seriously and create such a great atmosphere on the show, it was a bit bizarre, would be a kind way of putting it."

When asked if she believed he had been drinking, she said that she hadn't seen him drinking as the contestants are not allowed to drink on set.

"Whether he had a sneaky hip flask, I don’t know...but yes, it was a bit strange and obviously puts Dan and myself in a fairly uncomfortable position in having to reign that in or direct it in one particular way.

"I do feel for his partner Jess, who is just very virtuous, verypatients, very understanding, very wonderful and very professional as well. And I think she handled it very very well," she added.

Also speaking to Sunrise this morning, the 31-year-old added that she believed it was especially sad for April who was voted out, despite most people believing Mark would be going home.

“If I was Mark - and thank God I’m not - I’d either pull my head in or excuse myself from the show, and eliminate myself.”

Eddy also took to twitter to praise co-host Daniel McPherson for how he handled the incident.

The former Australian Idol judge appeared on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on this morning to apologise for his actions.

“My wife’s told me I ought to be deeply ashamed — she slept upstairs last night,” he said. “I was possessed by a clown. I’ll never watch it back. Any offence that the clown caused, I wish to apologise for.”

“I’m deeply ashamed. I’m looking back at what happened the night before and I’m thinking ‘was I really part of that?’,” he added.

The 60-year-old also spoke to Confidential, saying he wishes he could swap places with April.

”I should have gone. I feel devastated for her,” he said.

“If I could change anything, I would have me go out and April Rose Pengilly stay in. But that, unfortunately, is not how reality television works, so I blame the public.”
