
The singer, 23, accepted the Album of the Year award through tears, saying: "This record is inspired by something that is really normal and everyone’s been through it—just a rubbish relationship. It’s gone on to do things that I can’t tell you how I feel about them. It’s been the most life-changing year."

Adele also received a standing ovation for her performance of "Rolling in the Deep" at the awards ceremony--her first live performance since having throat surgery.

Other big winners included the Foo Fighters, who won five Grammy awards, Kanye West with three awards, and Taylor Swift, who took home two awards.
This year's Grammy Awards also saw performances by Paul McCartney, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna.
Jennifer Hudson stole the show with a heartfelt tribute to Whitney Houston, singing the late pop star's big hit "I Will Always Love You." Hudson, 30, ended her performance singing: "Whitney, we love you."
