Katie's Scientology diary exposed

As she shopped in LA with daughter Suri on May 8, Katie Holmes looked a shadow of her former self, with bags under her eyes and blemishes around her nose.
New Idea can reveal the reason behind Katie’s exhausted appearance is the strict Scientology daily regimen, encouraged by her husband Tom Cruise, which is taking its toll on the Hollywood actress.
The tough schedule, which Katie is forced to adhere to, includes set times for her to eat, as well as regular two-hour ‘auditing’ classes where she practises Scientology’s ‘spiritual counselling’ every day.
‘Katie is measured on an E-meter to see what time of day is best,’ former high-ranking Scientologist Amy Scobee tells Star magazine.
Katie even has a specific order in which to brush her hair, clean her teeth and get dressed – to improve her energy for the day ahead.
Former Scientologist Tiziano Lugli, who was once friends with Tom’s son Connor, reveals life in the church has become increasingly difficult and stressful as leader David Miscavige clamps down on members.
‘There are different degrees of involvement in Scientology that are directly proportionate to the level you are at,’ says Tiziano, who adds that Katie’s daily schedule revolves around a series of bizarre Scientology guidelines.
He reveals as Tom’s wife, Katie must follow the strictest Scientology guidelines. ‘It’s the rule that everyone has to do at least 12-and-a-half hours of training a week, and 12-and-a-half hours of auditing,’ he says.
‘Katie would also be expected to go to seminars and meetings, and attend drug rehabilitation courses.
‘She’d also be expected to do lots of voluntary work and there’s a lot of pressure to recruit other members.
‘It is your duty to recruit other people to the church, especially when you’re a celebrity. You’re also asked to mentor them and act as their guardian angel. It’s full-on.’
With these suffocating demands it’s no surprise that Katie’s feeling increasingly trapped. A Scientology insider confirms to New Idea: ‘When she’s shooting or rehearsing for projects she gets more time to herself, but at the moment she’s solely focused on the church.
‘Tom wants her to rise up to a more senior level, and she can only do this with more hours of classes. Katie is utterly exhausted and feels completely trapped.’ And it shows.

Katie’s Scientology schedule

7.00am Drink a glass of barley water and pop vitamin pills on an empty stomach.
7.30am Brush hair, brush teeth and get dressed. Katie must do it exactly in that order, as Scientologists believe this gives you better energy for the day. Wait for four-year-old Suri to wake. The toddler picks out her own clothes and decides what to eat, and when.
8.00am Meet with an auditor and go over changes and breakthroughs from yesterday’s sauna treatment and cleanse as part of the purification process. Auditor monitors progress, and alters levels of vitamin intake and sauna length for the day, and consults with a doctor.
10.00am Katie, at home or at the Scientology Center, consults with a doctor to monitor the progress of the ‘purification rundown’ or detox. She is closely monitored during this process.
12.00pm Katie begins four-hour sauna, which she does daily during the detox. Suri is looked after by nannies.
4.00pm Katie drinks tonnes of water, and is required to take the following vitamins and oils every day:
■ A cocktail of multivitamins, including A, B1, B-complex, C, D, E, plus multi-minerals.
■ Cider vinegar and magnesium water.
■ Niacin, in large quantities.
■ Oils, to replace the ones sweated out in the purification sauna. She mainly takes vegetable oils.
5.00pm Katie must undergo more
auditing if called for, and if time permits, she must do some exercise. Usually, it’s a jog outside, or running on a treadmill at home for an hour.
8.00pm An exhausted Katie is done for the day, and will generally eat a light dinner of fish and vegetables before collapsing into bed.
