Kirstie Alley has come to Tom Cruise's defense amid shocking Scientology reports.
The 61-year-old actress, who is a member of the controversial Church of Scientology, has spoken out about Vanity Fair's recent report that the organization held top-secret auditions to find Tom Cruise a girlfriend in 2004.
Alley told Entertainment Tonight:
"I think whenever you have articles written that are third and fourth parties' opinions – it's like the game Gossip and you don't get the truth – I think that a magazine of that caliber should have interviewed him, and then they would get the truth."

Although Cruise denied interview requests for the story, Marc Headly, a former high-ranking Scientologist, told Vanity Fair that he watched audition tapes of women who were prospective girlfriends for the actor.
He said: "It's not like you only have to please your husband - you have to toe the line for Scientology."
Despite the claims, Alley has steadfastly defended Scientology, explaining:
"I think that probably all religions sound bizarre to the people who are not the practitioners of them."
She added: "To me it's so normal, and probably 90% of the crazy stuff I hear isn't true."
