Magic Mike actress Olivia Munn told the New York Daily News that she has social anxiety as well as a disorder that causes her to rip out her eyelashes.
Munn, who is starring in the upcoming film The Babymakers, said babies aren't on her mind yet because she already struggles with enough anxiety.

She explained: "It’s not that I’m too busy with my career or anything, but I have this huge fear of something happening to a child of mine.
"What if I’m not a good parent and my child turns out to be a jerk? Like I need more anxiety in my life."

Part of that anxiety causes her to pluck out her own eyelashes as part of an impulse-control disorder known as trichotillomania.
She said: "I don’t bite my nails, but I rip out my eyelashes. It doesn’t hurt, but it’s really annoying. Every time I run out of the house, I have to stop and pick up a whole set of fake eyelashes."

Munn also confessed that she struggles with social anxiety. She explained:
"I don’t think anyone would describe me as weak, but I don’t want people to be mean to me. As an Air Force kid, I moved around a lot when I was younger and no one was nice to the new kid.
"So there is always this feeling that someone will make fun of me.”
Despite her anxiety, Munn has been a rising star in the industry, with new films and a role on HBO's hit new show Newsroom. She said of her success:
"People tell me, ‘Your work won’t keep you warm at night.’ But it does pay for my heat and my down comforter, so it technically does."

Good that this bold actor came with the problem openly. In USA people have so many weird disorders my god it seems the entire country is in a maniac state. Not a single person is perfectly healthy. The same is the case with bBritain and other developed nations. Most of these problems are due to stress. Todays life style is very stressful. It is all about how mch you make and how many houses and cars you have otherwise no one talk to you. People are runing at breakneck speed not knowing where and what they are goign to acheive but just keep running like mad.
Replywow - very brave to open up about this "silent" disorder...so many people experience this and yet is it hardly every spoken about - thanks Olivia for shining the light on what most people find too embarrassing to share. I pulled all my eyelashes out as a child without knowing why until I was an adult....and occasionally pull out other hair when stressed. Have spent so much of my life dealing with the shame associated with this and the other half of my life trying to cover it up......so much could be done to help if people felt they could share openly like Olivia
Replyi have this disorder but with the hair on my head. I have a bald spot on top of my head because of it and it causes me an enormous amount of stress to top the anxiety. It's really hard to deal with it but it makes me feel a bit better that someone else has this...
2 RepliesThis is actually a really serious disorder- my Mother has it. She pulls out hair all over her body and has almost no hair on her head. She has been doing it since she was a young girl. Apparently its hereditary (i personally dont have it) and that it is within a person from birth but generally a traumatic life experience is what triggers it into action. For the people saying she shouldnt have spoken about it, thats incredibly ignorant. Should cancer patients remain in silence?
ReplyI know how to calm this disorder ... come on over girly
