- Stretch denim isn't just for girls. By being fused with Lycra, the fabric is made stretchier than your average denim, which is great if you're constantly on the move as it's softer and more comfortable.
Unless you're close to the industry standard of a 32in waist and 34in inside leg, avoid extreme styles such as drainpipes or jeans with twisted seams. When extreme styles are adjusted up or down in size, some of the proportions don't fit as well. The more you differ from the 32/34 average, the less likely those funky jeans will suit you.
Men tend to try on three pairs of jeans before getting bored and walking out of the shop. Don't be afraid to spend longer looking for the right jeans. You want to look good in them, so take your time.
It's easy to get used to wearing one brand. But with the huge range of styles, finishes and cuts that most denim companies now produce, it's worth trying a selection of different labels, as within each range there's likely to be something that's right for you. Specialist jean shops should be able to steer you to styles that suit you.
Choose jeans with a stitched outside seam. Because the seam is on the outside there's nothing to chafe the more sensitive skin on the inside of your legs, so they'll be more comfortable.
