Starting with a pet name too early is one of those no-nos that's sure to earn you a one-way ticket to the “just friends” list.

She thinks: Who are you again, and why do you know about that?

Sure, a pet name is a great way to show you listen and develops a level of intimacy between you, but you’ve got to give it time to develop naturally. Try to force it and you come off more stalker-ish than anything.
