If you want to be seen as a superstar, start playing the role. The strategy: volunteer for a new leadership position, especially one you may be underqualified for, says career coach Dr Gina Bellavia. “It’s like giving yourself that extra push and saying, ‘I can do this’,” she says. You’ll learn new skills and maybe excel in your new position. If you fail, you’ll be more ready next time.

What about all of the people with real skills that can't get a job? 3 weeks of paycheck is better than none.
Replyfriend faked his way into a job by answering all questions with confidence. Started doing the hands-on part a day after with as a technician where they had to repair units with 3 days turnaround time. boy, he was struggling because he had no knowledge about the product. Sadly, he was terminated 3 weeks later.
ReplyPfft, what a lame article. As if trying to fake skills you don't have is going to get you a better job. And giving yourself 'ambitious' deadlines is just setting yourself up for failure. Better to actually do a good job than trying to fake it.
ReplyW~T~F is a "career coach"? Someone who can't get a real job themselves...
