How did you feel about winning the Women’s Health Reader’s Choice Award?
It was fantastic to be acknowledged as the "ladies man" of the comp and a great feeling just to be with the boys at the event.
Has it led to any other changes or opportunities in your life?
Yes, actually it led to me being on the cover of the September issue of Men’s Health, which was my initial goal. I was over the moon!
Has it changed how you think about your appearance, look after your skin or grooming at all?
I did get a haircut after the comp. I felt it was time for a change, and I really got into some of my NIVEA FOR MEN products afterwards. I can definitely say my face is a lot smoother.
What do you think makes a man well-rounded?
Lots of beer and pies (kidding)! I think balance in all aspects of your life is important. To be able to keep fit is good for your physical and mental well being and balancing out work and a social life is very important. It’s great to go for runs and do weights, but it’s also good to have a beer and the occasional burger - don't deny yourself!
What are your secrets to staying healthy?
Always plan ahead with your meals, that way you've got a healthy option at home when you’re hungry so you don't need to get easy, unhealthy takeaways. Make visiting your gym or doing exercise a necessity in your weekly plan. Even when you can't be bothered make yourself go anyway because you’ll feel so much better afterward. And always have enough sleep to reenergize your mind and body.
What do you say to people who say men don’t need to look after their appearance? (Both grooming and exercise)
Definitely untrue. When you think about it, men can't put on makeup, wear special “body altering” clothes or do a lot with their hairstyles. But you can enhance your physical appearance by keeping fit and making sure you look smooth and smell good!
What were some of the highlights of the MH Man experience for you?
Meeting the Men’s Health team and the rest of the boys in the competition. The beach shoot was a once in a lifetime experience(not the 4am start though!). Also, the finale and after party were definitely highlights.
