Despite the broken record of broken homes taking the rap for pretty much everything, research shows kids can cope with divorce pretty effectively. A joint University of Nebraska and Pennsylvania State University review concluded that children from one-parent families do not suffer provided the father "maintains an active presence in their lives". One-parent families may even be superior if the parents are happier apart. According to Clifford Kirkpatrick, a family sociologist, "Marriage stability should not be confused with marital happiness."

Infertility is incurable: MYTH

Like non-peak hours and Liberal Party governments, sperm count is dwindling rapidly. While the bad news is that there is broad consensus that men's sperm counts are falling, the good news is that 95 per cent of men can be treated. Just a few years ago the only treatment was donor sperm. But new methods such as intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection, where a single sperm is used to fertilise an egg, have transformed the management of male infertility. To avoid becoming part of a trend, cut out smoking, wind drinking back as much as you can and try to steer clear of hot baths - no matter how many ski bunnies are sharing your tub.
