Scrawny to brawny

I want to put on six kilograms of muscle in six months. Is that possible with 100 per cent self-discipline and a good trainer? I’m 34 and tired of stopping and starting without seeing results. - KB

Given your age and training history, the goal of six in six is entirely achievable. You will need a suitable program designed by a specialist trainer, preferably one who has had personal and professional experience in gaining muscle mass. In your trainer selection process, ask for a personal history and referrals from like-minded current or previous clients.

More importantly, as you point out, it's about desire and discipline, or in my words, being consistent and persistent. You'll both have to map out a training and nutrition regime, and be able to assess and reassess your progress over time.
