Earlier this year, Victorian schoolteacher Julian Growcott beat more than 400 other entrants to become the inaugural MH Man award winner. Besides his good looks and chiselled physique, what set Julian apart was his down-to-earth nature, well-balanced lifestyle and positive can-do attitude. Not only did he look fantastic on the cover, he was a great ambassador for all that Men's Health stands for.

If you think you've got what it takes to follow in Julian's footsteps, you're going to need to strike a similar balance. The bloke we're looking for puts as much effort into his job, relationships and spending time with his mates as he does into staying fit and healthy. He follows a nutritious diet, but realises there's no harm in the odd pizza or the occasional beer. Like Julian, he strives to be the best he can be in all aspects of his life.

The 12 entrants selected as finalists will be flown to Sydney for a shoot with a top international photographer and a chance to impress our judges in person. Of the final 12, six will return to Sydney at a later date to appear at a gala evening, at which the winner will be announced.

CHECK OUT ADVICE AND TIPS FROM LAST YEAR'S FINALISTS

In 2010, along with the prestige that comes with appearing on the cover, there's the added incentive of a $10,000 cash prize. But that's not the only award on offer. Our presenting sponsor, NIVEA FOR MEN, will select the winner of the 2010 NIVEA FOR MEN Face of the Year, while our sibling publication, Women's Health, will conduct an online poll to determine the WH Reader's Choice Award. It doesn't end there. The final 12 all have the chance to appear on a future MH cover, like this month's cover guy Stephen Denney, a finalist from the 2009 competition.

I guess since it's sponsored by Nivea then there would be a fair degree of interest in skin. I have used Nivea's after shave creme which I have to say is pretty good.
