Children of Africa Exhibition

On Tuesday, November 9, Paddington's Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation will host an exhibition of award-winning images from the internationally acclaimed photographic book, Children of Africa. Shot by famed photographer Luca Zordan and compiled by international fashion stylist Alethea Gold, the images portray and celebrate the diverse African continent and its children.

14 of the book's 250 images will be shown at the exhibition, set to be opened by Mr Frank Lowy, AC. All proceeds from the sales of the photos will go to the MaAfrika Tikkun Sports Program, an organisation that provides sporting equipment and health education for underprivileged children throughout South Africa.

The unique foundation is supported by the likes of Bob Geldof, who has personally pledged his support, and Chief Patron Nelson Mandela, who hails the charity as a "working miracle".

Gold describes witnessing the charity at work "extremely rewarding", saying, "I was choked with emotion when I watched the children being given their football boots and balls. Most of these kids don't even own a pair of shoes."

Equally as enraptured with the charity is Leah Nomalizo Tutu, who provided the foreword for Children of Africa. "I am humbled and can only believe that Africa through its traumatic past has spawned a continent of courageous and enquiring children who challenge all of us to become better role models," stated Tutu.
