New Study Reveals The Age You're Most Popular At

While you might think your popularity was at its peak during high school (Mean Girls anyone?) new research shows that's not the case.

UK company Genius Gluten Free surveyed 1,505 British people and found that we have an average of 80 friends at age 29, versus 64 at other stages of our lives.

So what makes 29 the golden number? Apparently, it's due to the fact we're still young enough to keep in touch with people at school, but old enough to have a few co-worker friends under our belts.

"We wanted to understand how friendships are born in the office and interestingly it appears that the long hours and high pressured situations we often find ourselves in at work with colleagues actually help us form strong friendships," said Genius Gluten Free Founder Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne.

The data also found that those working in marketing have the most friends at work, just ahead of chefs, servicemen and women, artists and designers, and finally those in HR.

In some ways, the research does make sense: at 29, any questionable decisions we might have made are in the past, and most of us have established a strong sense of self, meaning the friends we have are likely to stick around.

So while Taylor Swift is busy flaunting her friendship with every celebrity in Hollywood, it's likely the 24-year old has a few more years yet before she figures out who her real friends are.

Below are a few of our favourite 29-year old stars - who all seem to be at the peak of their popularity right now.
