Does the mention of Westminster Abbey make you think of beautiful models strutting down the catwalk?

No?

Well it should! Gucci have just announced that their 2017 Cruise showcase will be held amongst the sacred pews of Westminster Abbey.

As predicted, the move has rustled a few feathers at the Church of England.

While Gucci’s creative director Alessandra Michele described the show as “magical,” Reverend Peter Owen-Jones, thinks it’s “part of the Disneyfication of all the traditional sacred spaces in this land.”

“It confuses what the Church is for. Is the central icon of Christianity there to offer spiritual sustenance and love or is it just part of the marketplace of capitalism,” Owen-Jones said.

“We are in the process of selling our soul for a pair of trousers.”

Stay tuned for more news on the show, which will be held on June 2.
