The Drinking Mirror App, which is the brainchild of the Scottish government, is part of an initiative to discourage adult women from drinking too much.

“Over the past 20 years or so there has been a doubling in the number of deaths of women aged 31 to 44 as a result of over-consumption of alcohol and there's been a trebling of the incidence of cirrhosis and liver disease as well,” commented Health Secretary Alex Neil.
Official figures from Scottish Health Survey show one in three women in this age group “regularly” drink more than the recommended weekly guideline of 14 units a week, and "one in every 30 deaths among women" is related to alcohol. Truly staggering statistics when you consider them.
So how does the Drinking Mirror App work? Basically by appealing to your vanity. You simply upload a (sober) picture of yourself to the app and it shows you the way alcohol will affect your looks over 10 years. Think broken capillaries, fine lines and weight gain. On the bright side, it also shows you what happens if you stop drinking so much.

The app is available only on Android at the moment, but we have a feeling this one will be a popular download when it hits the iPhone market.
Would you try the Drinking Mirror App?

1-2 standard drinks per day for woman, 5 days a week & 2-3 standard drinks per day for men, 5 days a week is a low-level risk drinking level measure. Society wouldn't function without alcohol. Have a drink & relax. Don't let the twisted media think up stupid ideas.
ReplyI AGREE with Curious, stress and anxiety make u age more, same as stress and anxiety is a bigger killer.......For instance i met a lady at the casino 3 weeks ago, she was 98 yrs old and was still drinking at the var at 3.15am..!She told me she has drunk all her life. She never even had a walking stick. I said to her, u think u should be at home with ur husband? she replied " NO...get me another drink love..." in which i did.
ReplyI am 62 and a male and I have been drinking since i was 17 and do not particularly care what i look like at me age. Although I have contemporaries who are young and look older who cares. Get over it and get on with life.
ReplyI have been drinking since I was 16, regularly, I am now 30, I often get asked for ID when I'm in the liqour shop & people don't beleive I am 30. They think I am 22-24. Nonsense. The stress & anxiety caused by not drinking will make you look older. Another bright story from a not-so-bright yahoo.
