  • Put a teaspoon of bleach into the water to prevent odours.
Empty a small bottle of sparkling water into a vase of water to keep it clear.
Cut the tips of stems at an angle; it helps them absorb water and keeps them fresher for longer.
Recut stems and change the water every second day, especially for roses.
Dip the stems of hydrangeas, dahlias and cut phalaenopsis in hot water for three seconds, then plunge them into cold water for extra longevity.
