"I've been an eBay fanatic for three years - ever since I arrived in Australia from London. I remember being appalled at all the Collette Dinnigan rip-offs and feminine flirty tops in the stores-the exact opposite of my style, which is androgynous and black.
"I love anything by Yohji Yamamoto and Issey Miyake, but that type of clothing tends to be considered too heavy for the warm Australian climate. That's why eBay is the best place to buy the clothing I love.
"On the first day of the challenge, I spot a great pair of Yamamoto boots (worth $1000 new); they are classic, and I know they'll last forever. The bidding continues until the very last second-but, luckily, I win them for $180. I then take my time trawling through thousands of items, sidestepping anything suspicious, including a pair of beautiful Hermès slippers. Alarm bells rang at the $40 price tag, which was a fraction of the hundreds they're worth.
"Then I spy something I'd been hunting down for ages: a black Yamamoto coat dress in perfect condition, so I immediately bid-and win (a bargain at $115)! I also fall in love with an Issey Miyake dress, but when the bids soar to $660, I force myself to move on.
I console myself with a pair of 150-year-old Whitby jet earrings, a black Ann Demeule-meester top and a jumpsuit by emerging Belgian designer Véronique Leroy."

JAMES'S TIP
Sellers often misspell items, so use as few words as possible. If you do find a misspelt item, chances are you'll win it as it will be hard for others to find.
