marie claire has been nominated for best video promoting skin cancer prevention in a contest sponsored by dermatologists from the University of Colorado (USA) and funded by the Sulzberger Institute of Dermatologic Education, the education and research arm of the American Academy of Dermatology.

In conjunction with our February 2008 issue last year, Channel 7 aired 15-second and 30-second marie claire advertisements promoting the magazine's SunSmart campaign and sun safety message. The public service announcements starred former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins, TV personality Tom Williams and leading Australian fashion designers.

The videos caught the eye of international dermatologists after being posted on Youtube last year.

"We were impressed by the educational quality and strength of the message," says Robert Dellavalle, Chief of Dermatology at the Veterans Affairs Medical Centre in Denver, Colorado.

The top three nominees will be judged by an expert panel of judges and winners will be announced in March 2010.
