Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2011: Romance Was Born

Romance Was Born designer duo Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett pulled out all the stops for their Spring/Summer 2011/12 show earlier tonight, staging The Never Ending Story themed production at the Mitchell Library in Sydney.

Guests including Cate Blanchett were treated to a spectacular showing of The Oracle collection, which drew inspiration from the "beauty and decadence of the 20s" while also paying homage to The Never Ending Story.

Models including Louise Van De Vorst and Myf Shepard strutted the levels of the library swathed in pearls, ruffles and feathers. Hairpieces, head-frames and metre-long hair extensions only served to complement the empress-inspired outfits, which grew more and more elaborate as the show went on.

No detail was overlooked – from the sunglasses held together delicately with crystals, to the outfit made entirely of feathers – making the Romance Was Born show one to beat during RAFW.

When The Never Ending Story theme song played at the end of the show, supported by the Sydney Children's Choir, even the hardest fashion cynic was won over.
