Karl Lagerfeld To Design For Macy's

Karl Lagerfeld is set to design a one-off capsule collection for Macy's department store in September next year, which will also retail online.

The news follows Lagerfeld's decision to launch a "mass-elitism" line in 2011 after claiming he could no longer compete with Chanel. "I don't want to be the poor-child of myself," said Lagerfeld at the time.

The chairman, president and CEO of Macy's called the upcoming collaboration with Lagerfeld "a tremendous honour" for the store.

"Karl Lagerfeld holds a unique place in the world of fashion, an icon who is the ultimate modernist. Through the decades, his style and vision have marked the history of design."

Vivienne Westwood and Calvin Klein are also rumoured to have inked similar deals with Macy's.
