Yahoo Lifestyle Victoria's Secret Angels Pre-Show Bootcamp Revealed
If you thought being a Victoria's Secret model was easy, think again.
A number of the Angels are currently attending a gruelling exercise bootcamp (in seaside Tulum, but we digress...) and the program is enough to make anyone's eyes water.
According to wellness site Well + Good NYC, the models are partaking in four full days of intense physical training that covers yoga, boxing, and sculpting to get them ready for the Victoria's Secret casting call later this month.
"The girls are provided with meals - high protein and minimal carbs - to ensure that they get the best results," reports Yahoo Style.
Newcomers Kelly Gale, Mathilde Frachon, and Emanuela De Paula are getting their first taste of the effort it takes to be a Victoria's Secret Angel, with Paula saying the bootcamp has been a wakeup call for her.
"For myself, it's about doing something good for me, not only for my body, for my soul," the model explained. "I'm eating super healthy, and I was never like this before. I always liked bad foods and I'm starting to realise it's a lifestyle. You have to take care of yourself and enjoy what the earth is giving you."
Casting for the show is notoriously "terrifying" for the models. According to the show's creative director, Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou, even Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima etc have to go through the same rigorous casting process as their non-Angel counterparts.
"They are provisionally cast by [casting director] John Pfeiffer but the final decision is made by the whole team, sitting at this long table in a room with really harsh lighting and they have to walk towards us and away from us," Neophitou-Apostolou said. "They all have to do it - even the contracted girls - and it's incredibly nerve-wracking for them."
