Ginger & Smart MBFWA 2013 Show Review

Ginger & Smart are renowned for their bold prints, but this season, designers Alexandra and Genevieve Smart have redefined their signature look.

Amongst the sharp, colourful geometric patterns of season’s past sat soft monochrome peony and lace prints in an alluring mix of fabrics including mesh, leather and organza.

The sharply structured silhouette of last season was present in the collection’s dresses and skirts, which boasted longer hemlines and carefully placed paneling, but it was the attention to detail that really had the front row in awe, with carefully tailored pleating taking the central focus.

Ginger & Smart have given their accessories a bold new focus this season as well, with a range of carefully crafted shoes and bags taking centre stage.

“Bold sandals and booties mix matte, textured and quilted leathers with platform rubber tread soles, while boxed shoulder bags and clutches combine leathers and rubber with sharp rose-gold trim,” said the brand’s press release.

“NEED the box clutches at the Ginger & Smart show,” tweeted Bryan Boy.

To sum it all up: the renewed focus of the collection is sure to leave Ginger and Smart’s loyal customer clamouring to get their hands on it.
