Inspired by the concept of phosphorescence and the fluidity of a stingray, Magdalena Velevska's distinctly aquatic-themed collection drew on a more relaxed silhouette than season’s past.

“The summer collection is inspired by stingrays, 50s swimming costumes and 60s prints,” Velevska told marie claire before the show. “I've explored a more fluid silhouette and embellished curves. I've also taken reference from a project I developed in my final year at university.”

Velevska’s attention to detail was once again evident in the collection, with each piece clearly heavily worked over and embellished in some form.

“The detailed stitching was a distinct continuation for Magdalena,” explained marie claire’s junior fashion editor, Chloe Finley, after the show. “She kept the fringing light this year though, instead choosing to focus on hand-embroidered patches, which gives the collection beautiful detail."

Known for her love of bold colour, Velevksa also incorporated a palette of neon yellow and bright white amongst the more subdued greys and blacks, with some pieces In the collection reportedly featuring a phosphorus thread that glows in the dark.
