Irish online bookmaker Paddy Powers has already started its own betting page, asking punters who they think the coveted job will go to.
Gaga's younger sister Natali Germanotta, appears to be in the lead so far with 13-8 odds – hardly surprising considering she's rumoured to be starting her own fashion line "remodelling the styles of classic icons from the past".
Second in line for the role is Gaga's stylist, Nicola Formichetti, creative director of Thierry Mugler. Whilst the idea is plausible, stylist.com reasons that it's more likely he'll oversee the styling of the dress "rather than the actual design".
A slew of other heavyweight designers including Donatella Versace, Sarah Burton from Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood are also on the betting list.
With Gaga publically proclaiming she "refuses to wear anything but Versace for the next several months," it's possible Donatella could nab the design job, but the list of predicted materials might rule her out – we can't see Versace coming up with anything involving balloons, flowers or glass.

She will probably design her own dress wouldn't it suprise everyone if she goes for a traditional dress. You never know with Gaga. I do believe she has talent she writes her own songs and her voice is better than other one hit wonders. People do not like her as she is "out there'" not your typical stereotype which people are comfortable with, because of that, she will always get criticism. At a young age, she is passionate about her fans, and helping others. You have to admire her for that.

Yes we have had them from many era's and she is no different. Don't need a slag match against her. If you don't like her don't comment and don't listen to her. See, how easy was that???????
