If you thought the subjects of abortion and dancing didn’t go together, think again. The crew from Reproductive Choice Australia (RCA) – the nation’s peak representative body of pro-choice groups – has organised a flash mob this Sunday September 30 at 11am in Melbourne’s Federation Square, and they want you to join in.

RELATED: Abortion: A right or a crime?

The “Let's End the Stigma” flash mob aims to highlight the appalling practice of abortion-shaming and will be the launching pad for RCA’s national pledge campaign.

According to RCA president Dr Leslie Cannold, the campaign will call on Australians to stop abortion-shaming and ask them to refuse to stand silent when others engage in the practice.

“This campaign couldn't be more current or necessary,” said Dr Cannold. “Stigma and shaming breed silence and ignorance; this is the fertile ground in which repressive abortion laws and policies flourish.

“The flash mob and pledge are concrete things the community can do to stand up for women, and against abortion shame. Communities induce shame. Communities can stop it.”

This Sunday’s flash mob coincides with the international campaign for the decriminalisation of abortion. In Australia, abortion is still in the criminal statutes in NSW and Queensland. For more details and to register for the flash mob, visit www.reproductivechoiceaustralia.org.au/flashmob.

I, too, find this extremely disturbing and horribly sad. How I wish I had known of people that were PRO-life to help educate and inform those of us who were/are too innocent & uninformed or just plain stupid, of what a horrendous choice we were/are making. One photo of an aborted baby or even an ultrasound prior to my abortion would have turned my decision around. My heart breaks for my own unborn babies, as well as the countless babies worldwide that were never given the choice for life. I, personally, aborted out of selfishness and shame. I think of my children nearly every day and the pain is far worse NOW, even than what it was back then . It is so hard to forgive myself. I just hope they have forgiven ME, my precious, much loved Brand and Drew.

I'm sorry, but this article and footage is just disturbing. Why would anyone dance about abortion when extensive research (of 900,000 women) shows an 81% increase in negative psych impacts for women who choose abortion over birth, let alone what it does to their babies. And why on earth would you endorse it M.S? Women, babies and families deserve better than abortion!

Abortion a fact of life - ha - let's try "Think before you act or you get consequences" as a fact of life - and let's start taking responsibility for our actions, rather than making excuses to cover our actions. These people are sick. Why is it that they need everyone else to tell them they're ok, when they've stuffed up in the first place? Why should we? I taught by two year old to own his behaviour - why can't they?
