It seems our obsession with Cara Delevingne’s eyebrows is starting to affect the beauty industry, with Google announcing today that the search term ”tweezers” has been dropping significantly since November 2012.

Delevingne, who is famous for her bold, bushy brows, is being blamed for the reported recent decline in tweezer sales, with Google commenting, “As searches for Cara Delevingne have increased, less and less people have been googling tweezers.”

The trend towards lush eyebrows has been on the rise ever since Delevingne hit the modeling circuit in 2011, but, says marie claire's beauty director, Alex Noonan, that doesn't mean the end of grooming.

"In fact, Cara revealed that she carries a full brow kit with her everywhere she goes, to ensure a hair is never out of place," said Noonan.

Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury says it’s no surprise that bold brows are back in because they’re “the pillars” of the face.

“Brows really became popular in the 1950’s when the thick, arched brows of Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor were the most fashionable,” said Tilbury.“Brooke Shields’s natural, lush and handsome brows became the trend in the 1980’s and today the incredible, dark, lush and arched brows of Cara Delevingne have captured the beauty world.“

But while tweezers might be out for now, red lipstick and nail art aren’t according to Google, which also predicted that the next flu epidemic will hit New Zealand or Chile first (cold and flu symptoms are current popular search terms in both countries).
