The 21-year old, who is one of the highest earning stars in her demographic, was asked by Balenciaga to front the campaign by creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.
"Kristen Stewart is the perfect choice as she embodies Nicolas Ghesquière's unique vision for the second chapter in our fragrance history", commented Balenciaga's CEO, Isabelle Guichot.
Stewart, known for edgy style, said she was "proud" to be the face of the upcoming fragrance.
"I love Balenciaga fashion because it is incredibly bold and forceful, yet feminine and sexy," Stewart explained.
Stewart added that the brand's "cool" reputation helped sway her decision to become involved with the project, saying, "It feels full circle to be involved with something that spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now. The brand is just cool. That’s the way it is. I feel drawn to it. It provokes on a number of levels. It isn’t afraid or contrived. It hits a very cool balance, always. Always pretty undeniable."
Catherine Walsh from Coty Prestige said she felt Stewart was the evident choice for the new fragrance.
"She has a unique sense of style, quite original and chic in the way she mixes fashion elements. Her elegant modernity and innate rebel style perfectly match with the spirit of Balenciaga," explained Walsh.
The campaign is only the start of things to come for Stewart this year - the actress is already confirmed to appear in three movies, with the highly anticipated fifth installment of the Twilight saga hitting cinemas in November.
