BASE
Prevent make-up meltdown with a primer for a budge-proof base. "An oil-free primer is great for people worried about excess shine during the day," explains Jeffrey Asker, international make-up artist for Laura Mercier. Follow with a tinted moisturiser that contains an SPF for sheer, lightweight coverage. If spots, blemishes or discolouration are still a problem, apply a conealer with a thicker consistency to just the affected areas.Try: Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation Primer, $62; Chanel Précision Hydramax+ Teinte Moisture Boost Tinted Lotion SPF 15, $69; L'OrÉal Paris Idéal Balance Stick Concealer, $24.95.
EYES
Keep your eyes simple. Tasker suggests trying "a subtle wash of colour across the lid to conceal discolouration". For understated eye definition, he swears by Laura Merciers Tight Eye Technique. "It lasts all day and gives eyes more oomph. Using an eyeliner cake and a wet, flat eyeliner brush, work the liner onto the brush. Holding back the lid, press the brush tip onto the base of the lashes, not the eyelid, working your way along the lash line." Follow with a few coats of mascara.Try: Natio Loose Powder Eyeshadow in Light, $12.95; Revlon Luxurious Lengths Mascara in Black, $19.95; Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Sepia Ink, $45.
CHEEKS
"Keep colour nice and fresh," suggests Tasker. "Peach is a universally flattering colour that lights up the face, so it's great for everyone and also looks amazing with a summer tan." Using your middle and ring finger, add a pop of cream blush onto the apple of your cheeks and blend back towards your hairline.Try: Lancôme Magie Blush Soft Radiant Mousse Blusher in Rose Z´phir, $50.
LIPS
Glosses are ideal for hot weather as they don't have the heavy look of a lipstick. Opt for sheer, summery shades of pretty peaches and pale pinks.Try: Maybelline New York Shine Seduction Glossy Lipcolour in Apricot Aura, $15.95.
FINISH
Finally, swirl a large blush brush over a bronzer, tap away any excess powder and lightly dust over your nose, cheeks, temples, chin and décolletage to fake a radiant, sun-kissed glow.Try: L'Oréal Paris Glam Bronze Compact Bronzing Powder, $26.95.
BEAT 3PM SHINE
Love the heat, but hate the oil slick around your T-zone? "If you've already prepped the skin with an oil-free primer and oil-free tinted moisturiser, you're halfway there," explains Tasker. "For excess shine, use the tiniest amount of translucent powder, worked into a powder puff, and press onto the skin. The pressing action means you won't disrupt any make-up that is already in place."Try: CoverGirl TruBlend Naturally Luminous Loose Powder, $14.25.
