The look:"We wanted the girls to look sleek but incorporate texture and exaggerated height as an unexpected element," says hair director Renya Xydis. "Plaiting is key to this look giving it a youthful vibe but in a supremely elegant and groomed way."
How to:1. Hair is slicked back to the max with
System Professional Platinum Gloss. "Make sure it's super-tight to the crown with no fly-aways!" urges Xydis. Sometimes this is easier to do by flipping the head over and combing all hair towards the crown so that you are working with gravity to eliminate bumps and lumps.
2. Secure at crown with an elastic. For the show hair pieces were used, but you can re-create a tamed down version of this look at home with just your hair. For thick hair, section into small pieces and create multiple plaits. Secure these individually with invisible bands and simply plait three into each other, then another three into each other - until all plaits are plaited into each other. For thinner hair, loop the lengths of the crown ponytail into a bun and plait one section, wrapping around the base of the bun to give it an element of texture.
3. Twist into a bun shape and secure with fringe pins.
4. Smooth gently down from hairline to bun using
High Hair Finishing Spray Ultra for hold and
System Professional Diamond Reflect for shine.
