The ceremony saw marie claire honour and acknowledge Australia's best fashion designers, brands and products at a highly exclusive black-tie Gala dinner.
A host of celebrity guests graced the red carpet including Elle Macpherson; Dannii Minogue, Lara Bingle, Sophie Falkiner, Jodi Gordon, Erica Heynatz, Terri Biviano, and Charlotte Dawson. Australia's most accomplished designers, many of which were also award finalists attended including; Akira, Alex Perry, sass & bide, Willow, Leona Edmiston, J'Aton, camilla & marc, Wayne Cooper, Peter Morrissey, Carla Zampatti, Bianca Spender, Zimmermann, Kirrily Johnston, Alice McCall, Josh Goot, Easton Pearson, Karen Walker, Ginger and Smart, Alannah Hill, and Nicola Finetti.
The evening's 268 guests enjoyed a sumptuous three-course dinner at a giant custom-made round table as the awards were presented. In what was a spectacular highlight of the evening and to mark the start of the fashion awards, a whirlwind of fifty models in identical black bobs and outfits by the fashion finalists surrounded the table. Suddenly, a stunning three-tiered giant chandelier with 14 models suspended from it began to rise dramatically towards the ceiling, until it reached its full six metres in height.
The fashion winners included Josh Goot, who took out the prestigious Best Australian Designer Award; Country Road was awarded the Best Australian Fashion Brand Award; and sass & bide swept the Readers' Choice awards taking home both Best Australian Fashion Brand (Readers' Choice) and Best Australian Designer (Readers' Choice). Long time winner, Elle Macpherson Intimates again took out the Readers' Choice award for Best Lingerie Brand which was collected this year by none other than Elle herself.
