Everyone tends to have a favourite colour however did you know that the colours you surround yourself with also have the ability to heal and affect your mood? Using colour as method of healing dates back thousands of years across ancient Egypt, China and India where it was believed that colours could aid to dispel negative feelings, free energy blocks and re-balance the body emotionally, spiritually and, physically.

In modern times this mode of thinking has been developed into what we now call colour therapy, chromotherapy, or light therapy. Colour Therapy is a totally holistic, non-invasive holistic healing therapy which uses the visible spectrum of light and color to assist with a person’s mood and physical or mental health. It is believed that certain colors entering the body can activate hormones causing chemical reactions within the body which in turn can influence your emotions as well as assist the body to heal.

Red is used to promote life force energy and vitality as well as assist with the awakening of power, energy, and life passion.
Use this colour to assist with increased energy, embracing new beginnings, when making decisions, or wishing to increase the passion and vitality in your life.
Avoid this colour when you are feeling anger, frustration, lethargy, nervousness or anxiety.

Orange, a colour often worn by spiritual aesthetics, it is believed to resonate at the same vibration frequency as human DNA and inspire creativity.
Use this colour when you want to promote creativity in your life, inspire new ideas, increase your confidence and extend your happiness.
Avoid this colour when you are feeling unsettled and need to rest.

Yellow is believed to promote clarity and assist with more positive life direction. It is believed to energize and stimulate the muscular and nervous system and is particularly beneficial for those suffering from depression.
Use this colour when you wish to increase your alertness and attention to detail and promote more positive energy in your life.
Avoid this colour if you want to relax or ease your mind or wish to remain outside the centre of attention.

Green is believed to calm and relax the mind and keep physical and mental energy balanced and is rat for assisting in balancing the body and mind.
Use this colour when you need help with establishing your identity, want to head in new directions or establish new beginnings, or need help healing your heart. It is also good for when you feel the need for grounding and balance in your life.

Blue is considered the greatest of healing colours, evoking purity, calm, and peace. It is commonly used in color therapy to assist with mental healing, and opening up communication.
Use this colour when you need assistance with clearing your mind and clear communication.
Avoid this colour if you are feeling sad, lonely, or depressed as it will only further mellow your mood.

Violet is believed to inspire people to change, support personal growth, soothe nerves and relieve pain.
Use this colour when you are seeking life direction or purpose or when you wish to change or break bad habits or addictions.
Avoid this colour if you are suffering grief or are feeling emotionally blocked or wish to withdraw from society.

Pink is used most commonly to assist with developing self love, self acceptance, compassion and nurturing. It also used for emotional healing and assisting people to confront their vulnerabilities such as low self esteem or lack of self compassion.
Use this colour to increase your femininity and love in your life as well during times of needed concentration.
Avoid this colour when you are feeling vulnerable and insecure and are constantly giving but not receiving in your relationships.
