Dubbed the ‘Happiest 5K on the Planet’, up to 20,000 people dressed in white participated in the Swisse Color Run event, held on Sunday February 10 in Sydney Olympic Park.
Unlike competitive fun runs, the Color Run was a celebration of vibrant colour and having fun (whilst raising money for Heart Kids), rather than who could run the fastest. Participants set their own pace, and along the way, were showered with brightly coloured plumes of blue, pink, orange and yellow colour powder (100% natural food grade corn starch).
Color Run Sydney was the second largest event of its kind globally (outnumbered only by Philadelphia which hosted 26,000 runners). The event culminated in a joyful explosion of colour at the 'Finish Festival' staged in Cathy Freeman Park, where runners of all age came together to party, throw more colour in the air, and celebrate life.
