science is not the problem ... it is dumb journalists, politicians and public with their short attention span of complexity who refuse to understand science.

Science is always the last version of error! e.g. one day they say the earth is a disc and the centre of the universe, the next day it is a ball circling round the sun, one day strawberries are to avoid because they cause food allergies (which may cause cancer) the next day they prevent cancer, I can not count how often during the last 50 years the cholesterol discussion about butter and eggs did go against and pro - not to talk about the biggest joke the greenhouse effect which seems to be an invention of Margaret Thatcher (to fight acoal miners strike) and you can't get rid of it because meanwhile an industry and parliaments are earning money with it. And poor research (or being uninformed or corrupt) of journalists makes it even worth.

NSW minister raises prospect of toll roads, hang on a minute minister, don't you remember all those years that we plebs paid taxes. Taxes to assure us of a pension when we retire, to build & maintain roads,to ensure a supply of reasonable power & water. All the things we came to expect of our public servants. I guess though that more & more money is needed to fuel the big business of politics. My kids used to play "Where's Wally?" I've introduced my Grandkids to a new game "Where's Julia This Week?" You can believe it's a harder game than where's wally. Julia, please come home, I'm forgetting what you look like.

If I were you Julian I would be thinking, do I believe Carr & Roxon? Personally I don't think I would. Someone said to me that you can allways tell when a politician is lying, his/her lips are moving. I can't believe that is true but there is this opinion floating around out there. Maybe if Carr were to make a core promise it would be different.

Strawberries-then again next year given a different set of experts, it will probably find that strwberries cause about as much oesophegal cancer as it cures. So, who to believe? Too much sugar causes cancer now. Never did when I was young. Of course we probably didn't eat as much of it then. Believe the experts? Definition of an expert-X is an unknown factor & a spurt is a drip under pressure.
