How to make the best BLT

Transform your bacon sanger from a fat-laden, low-nutrition waste of kilojoules, into a high-protein, nutrient-dense brawn builder.

Ingredients

2 slices of wholemeal bread
4 rashers of bacon
1 garlic clove, halved
2 sun-dried tomatoes
1 tbsp salsa
Spinach leaves

Method

1 Preheat the grill and trim the fat from the outer edge of the bacon rashers. Doing this can reduce the fat content of the bacon by almost 50 per cent.

2 Stick the rashers under the grill and put the bread in the toaster. Once the bread’s lightly browned, rub each filling-facing side with the garlic.

3 When the bacon is cooked, leave it to rest for a minute or so between two sheets of paper towel. This will soak up the remaining excess fat.

4 Start to build the sandwich by spreading the salsa directly on the toast and layering the ingredients on top. Eat immediately. Like you needed us to tell you that.
