When a peanut butter and jelly sandwich sandwich shop owner noticed someone had been digging through her rubbish bins for food, her heart went out to them.

Rather than ignore them, PB Jams owner Ashley Jiron posted a powerful note for the dumpster-diver in her US shop window.

“To the person going through our trash for their next meal, you’re a human being and worth more than a meal from the dumpster,” her note read.

“Please come in during business hours for a classic Pb&j, fresh veggies, and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked. – your friend, the owner.”
