If you're sick of doing the same thing every weekend, the Secret Supper Cinema is the event for you. Yahoo!7 Lifestyle quizzed SSC organiser Sam Nuttall on Sydney's newest hot ticket.

How did Secret Supper Cinema start?

I suppose it started with me and Tim (Noye, the SSC chef) rushing our dinner down our necks to try and get to a movie on time. That and a love of film, food and a bit of camp theatre.

Why are the locations a secret?

Keeping the locations secret adds another layer of excitement for the audience. There are so many nooks and crannies in this city that no one normally gets to see. What better way to see them…

How does it work exactly, do diners eat before the movie starts or during the film or are there breaks during the film?

It’s all down to timing. Food plays such an important part of the evening that we want to entwine it with the film seamlessly. There are natural breaks in films and just like the old movie theatres we’ll have a pause for plate changes.

Are people seated on individual tables or is it more like a movie theatre?

People are sat at bohemian sized dinner tables for this one. Each event will have a slightly different seating plan depending on the film.

On the site it says diners can expect lots of surprises along the way, can you give any hints to what some of those are?

Some of the surprises are made possible by our amazing sponsors, Absinthe Salon will be giving a display on the etiquette on how Absinthe should be consumed…there may be dancing…I’m not saying any more.

How have you been promoting the event?

Mostly through online and social media. For this to work the idea has to spread virally and capture the imagination of audiences.

How are you planning on choosing movies in the future? Do you choose the movie or the cuisine first?

We choose the movie 1st. It’s got to be a movie that has something unique and classic about it. It also helps if it’s a movie that you’d want to watch while eating food!

What has been the most difficult challenge while setting up Secret Supper Cinema?

Keeping the faith that people want to go to an event like this. It has to be fun and easy for the audience and be good enough for people to want to come to the next one.

Do you have any plans to go national?

We're talking to some amazing warehouse owners and spectacular food partners in Melbourne and Brisbane for August/September at the moment. It’s a concept that lends itself easily to a food and film loving nation.
